Pre-School and Daycare
Our center is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to create an environment where children can explore the wonders of life in God’s creation. The children not only discover the wonder of uniqueness of themselves, but also acquire a beginning awareness of the wonder and uniqueness of other people.
Our purpose is to create an environment in which children explore and become aware of their physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual being in light of the Christian view.
We serve three groups of children:
- The All- Day Program for children from six weeks to Kindergarten age who need all-day care Monday through Friday, 12 months a year from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- The Morning Program for children 3-5 years old Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until noon. They are taught using the ABC-KA curriculum.
- The Spring Break and the Summer Camp Programs for children ages 5 through 12 years Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. This program includes many activities and several field trips.
All teachers have taken special courses in Early Childhood Education. They have attended state and local workshops on the preschool level annually. They are also required to take ten additional hours of training every year to include first aid, CPR, child abuse prevention, nutrition, safety and sanitation.
We are dedicated to surrounding children with a loving, safe environment where they will grow in their love of self, others, God and learning. Our program is play-based with hands-on learning that incorporates science, math concepts (numbers, colors, shapes, positional words, etc.) prewriting activities, beginning literacy skills, and process-oriented art. Students gain important classroom and socialization skills that are critical for a positive transition to elementary school.
The church takes an active role in the spiritual education of the Preschool children. The Pastor leads both a weekly chapel service on Mondays, and has Bible Storytime with the children on Thursdays.
Additionally there are benefits to joining the church. Active Church Members (those who join and attend our 11 AM Sunday worship service at least twice a month) receive a 20% Discount on their children’s weekly fees at the Burns Memorial Methodist Church Pre-School and Day Care Center.
