WELCOME!

It is so nice to have you join us for the worship service this morning.  God is so good to us, all the time, and we gather to express our thanksgiving and gratitude for God’s amazing love. If you are new to Burns and have any questions regarding bathrooms, hearing devices, nursery, children’s church, children’s activity bags, or anything else, please just ask one of the Ushers, the ones handing out bulletins as you came into the sanctuary.

We would like to welcome Joseph Patton (3011 Thomas Lane) to Burns! Joseph, an Army Veteran, comes to us from Iowa, by way of Texas.  He joined Burns on 3/17/24 by transfer of membership from another Methodist church  Welcome! 

FLOWERING THE CROSS

A fun Easter Sunday morning tradition at Burns has been to put fresh flowers on a cross, symbolizing the victory of Jesus. Everyone is welcome to participate, you just have to do two things: come early and bring flowers!

BURNS MEMBERS VOTING ON GMC TODAY

Having given due consideration, and having had an open informational meeting, and having announced this vote in the March Flame and the last 4 Sunday bulletins, we are taking an official vote today as to whether or not to join the Global Methodist Church.  All members of Burns that are present are eligible to vote.  Here are the specifics from the GMC Web Site (globalmethodist.org/faqs).
 
To join the Global Methodist Church, the following motion must be adopted by a simple majority at a congregational meeting:
 
“I move that _____________ Church become a member congregation of the Global Methodist Church, that it affirms and endorses the doctrinal standards (Part One), Social Witness (Part Two), and church governance of the Global Methodist Church as set forth in its Transitional Book of  Doctrines and Discipline, and agrees to be accountable to such standards, witness, and governance. Our leadership and trustees are authorized to take all actions necessary to implement this motion.”
 
A person authorized by the church must then complete and submit a digital church application.  As part of completing the digital church application, you must upload the minutes of the meeting at which the motion above was adopted. Church applications can only be submitted using the digital church  application. If you have questions about the church application process, please email applications@globalmethodist.org.
