Worship

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100, NKJV

The Worship service typically runs from 10:55 until Noon. There is a nursery available for children 4 and younger. There are activity bags available (with reading books, coloring books, etc.) to help older children stay occupied during church. Several Sundays have themes 1st Sunday: This is our more liturgical service (Apostles Creed, reading a Confession) and we also serve Holy Communion. 3rd Sundays: This week we often have a gospel singer or gospel group at the worship service. 4th Sundays: Contemporary Service, often features more contemporary music, skits, music students from Augusta University, our Men’s trio, etc. 5th Sundays (4 times a year): The Methodist Men form the choir and the service is followed by a Fellowship Lunch.

A Prayer for Our Community

"God, our Heavenly Father, make, we pray, the door of this church wide enough to welcome all who need human love and fellowship and a Father’s care; but narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride, and lack of love. Here may the temped find help, the sorrowing receive comfort, the careless be awakened to repentance, and the penitent be assured of your mercy; and here may all your children renew their strength and go on their way in hope and joy; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen." A Prayer by Anglican Bishop Thomas Ken (1637 – 1711), Pastor, poet and hymn-writer, and author of the well-loved doxology "Praise God, from whom all blessings flow."

Choir

Augustine tells us that when we sing, we pray twice. Rarely does a congregation pray so powerfully as when singing a great prayer hymn such as "Breathe on Me, Breath of God" or "Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart." Prayer as praise almost demands to be sung: "Alleluia! Alleluia!" "Holy! Holy! Holy!"

The Bible is filled with songs, and communal singing has been an integral part of the Christian community since its beginning. We recognize the importance of music in worship as a way to tap into a deeper spiritual place when words alone are inadequate, and we welcome the energy that comes from singing and playing together.

We are blessed to have a small but dedicated choir, under the direction of Mike Kelly -- who is also our church pianist. Practice is Wednesday at 5 PM, and we gather at 10:35 Sunday mornings to prepare for the 11 AM Worship Service. If you love to sing, have a love for God, and some patience for other people, we would love to have you sing with us!
